Former Governor Eliot Spitzer files for divorce

It’s splits-ville for Spitzer. The former Governor of New York and his long time wife of 26 years Silda Wall Spitzer reportedly filed for divorce Wednesday and issued a joint statement saying, “All issues between us have been resolved and are uncontested.”

The divorce comes roughly six years after Spitzer resigned in disgrace as governor–all the while Silda stood by his side after he was caught up in a highly publicized prostitution scandal.

According to the New York Daily News, Silda Wall Spitzer “…is a successful businesswoman who heads an equity firm, Spitzer’s estimated personal net worth is $50 million, and analysts have pegged his family’s real estate empire as worth $1 billion.”

In the end the couple issued this statement,“We regret that our marital relationship has come to an end and we have agreed not to make any other public statement on this subject.”
